On March 27, 2011, The Disco Biscuits played the East Coast's largest electronic music festival, "Ultra" in downtown Miami. Over 150,000 people attended the 3-day event. The Disco Biscuits invited a well known Florida artist, David "LEBO" Le Bartard, to paint on stage during the set. Using the music as his muse, he painted furiously throughout the entire show and came up with this beautiful work of art that you see pictured here. LEBO has collaborated with the Biscuits in the live setting, and designed the packaging for the double live album, Wind at Four to Fly. He approached the band with a special offer: to have this one-of-a-kind artwork benefit a charitable, good cause while putting it in the hands of a fan or art collector at the same time.

The artwork will be displayed for auction at Philadelphia Young Playwrights' "Write On" fundraiser celebration on May 3 at World Cafe Live. From there, it will go to an online auction at Charity Folks where it remain for the month of May. Inclusive with the painting will be a free pair of tickets to any Disco Biscuits show of your choice.
Philadelphia Young Playrights (PYP) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit arts education organization whose mission is to tap the potential of youth and inspire through playwriting. Aron Magner, keyboardist of the Disco Biscuits, sits on the board of directors for the organization his mother started more than 20 years ago. Since, it has grown to come to over 50 classrooms throughout the region, inspiring students of all ages and races to have their individual voices and creativity heard. Arts education budgets have been cut in recent years and nonprofits like PYP are relying on personal contributions to help amazing programs like these continue. The Disco Biscuits and LEBO are donating 100% of the proceeds to PYP to continue their amazing mission. The back of the painting will be autographed by the artists: LEBO and all four members of The Disco Biscuits, as well the four winning playwrights of this year's Write-On Award ceremony. |
