Camp Bisco 8 Remix Contest Concludes!
The
Winner is... Philadelphia's Maniac All-Stars
Five first place winners and one grand prize winner have been selected for the first annual Camp Bisco remix contest. For the first time, aspiring DJ/producers from around the country had the opportunity to remix top notch artists including the Disco Biscuits, The Orb, Dr. Dog, Telepath and John Brown's Body. After much deliberation and several days spent poring over hundreds of entries, The Maniac All-Stars were selected as the grand prize winner for their "Rebirth" remix of the song "Subterfuge" by live electronica band Telepath . The track went to the top of the Acidplanet charts the day before the contest ended and remained there as of this release. The Maniac All-Stars are a production duo is made up of brothers Antonio "DJ Satisfaction" and Dennis Gonzalez from Philadelphia, PA. The All-Stars are relatively new to Acidplanet joining only this month, but have won several remix contests including VH1's The Score to create the theme song for the 2007 Hip-Hop Honors Show.
The Maniac All-Stars win a unique performance opportunity to spin a primetime Friday afternoon set at Camp Bisco between Planet Mu recording artist Starkey and Chicago DJ collective the Orchard Lounge. Four other finalists will receive a prize pack that includes Festival passes with backstage access, the newest version of Sony's Acid Pro 7 remixing software, a handful of Acid loop libraries and one year subscriptions to Remix and Electronic Musician magazines. "We were thrilled with the tracks submitted through Acidplanet online remixing community and will look to make this an annual promotion," said Jonathan Fordin, President of MCP Presents, the promoter of Camp Bisco 8.

Artists Gear Up for Camp Bisco's First Mural Art Showcase
New for 2009, Camp Bisco is proud to announce an innovative mural art showcase. Brett Keber of MCP Presents said, "For the first time at Camp, festival attendees can display their own graffiti or spray can art, which has become such a cool aspect of the live shows of so many musicians and Camp Bisco performers." Entering is simple: bring your best design that ties into one or more of this year's Camp Bisco artists painted on a canvas, plywood or cardboard display (minimum size is 2'x2', maximum size is 4'x8') to the entrance gate of the festival site. Camp Bisco staff will register your entry and mount the art along the main stage fence. The painting with the most votes by Midnight Friday July 17th will win a coveted slot to create a live painting during a headline set on Saturday by one of the main stage Camp Bisco artists. Unlimited entries per attendee. Get there early to make sure the thousands of attendees see your painting as they enter the festival site!

Our referees this year are Jon Vasil, Lynne McCormick, Cayce Lewis, and returning southern ALLSTAR, Brent Miller. Nothing escapes their watchful eyes, so don't even try to pull a fast one...you'll be out faster than a fat kid in dodgeball.
Returning as well are bacon judges Matt "Stubbs" Stebbins and Evan "I like the pretty lights" Dunn, Steven "Free Bacon?" Finn, joined by bacon newcomer Tyson "Shrimp Lo Mein" Tomain. They've been training an entire year to detect the tiny nuances and flavor subtleties in each dish, so remember that your MAIN ingredient is bacon. A bacon wrapped steak, while delicious, will not win.
Scavenger Hunt lists will be distributed to captains Thursday night of camp, all items are due before the Biscuits take the stage Friday night.
This is going to be our biggest year ever! It's still not too late to get in on the action. Email colorwar@gmail.com to get on a team, and come on down to the main stage field on Friday, July 17th and see what all the fuss is about! Bring a beer! Bring a friend! Bring a whole team! This is going to be one for the books, so just bring yourself and get ready for an amazing day of fun!
SEE YOU ON THE FIELD!
